Comparison between Shrews and Rodents

Physical Comparison

·         Shrews have five toes on their front feet, whereas mice only have four because they are rodents.

·         Mice come in a variety of colors, including gray, but also white, light brown, and black, whereas Shrews only have one coat color: the color gray.

·         Shrews are typically smaller than Rodents and have much more pointed noses.

·         Mice have large eyes, whereas shrews have tiny eyes that are almost invisible beneath their fur.

·         Shrews have pointed teeth and small ears, whereas mice have grooved incisors and large ears.

·         A mouse's tail is long and sparsely furred, whereas a shrew's tail is shorter and has more fur.

Behavioral comparison

Shrews are classified as nocturnal, despite the fact that they are active throughout the day and night. This is primarily due to their high metabolism. To avoid starvation, shrews must eat about three times their body weight each day, according to Cornell University. Mice are mostly nocturnal, but they can be found awake in the early morning and late afternoon. Mice are social creatures, living in communities and banding together to defend their territory from intruders. Shrews, on the other hand, prefer to be alone, aexcept during breeding season.
